About MMTTC (Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre)

The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, formerly known as the UGC- Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), is an esteemed institute established in 1987 under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Its primary objective is to motivate and train teachers in higher education institutions, enabling them to enhance their knowledge delivery systems and promote creative and innovative thinking.

The institute prioritizes exposing teachers to various pedagogical methods that encourage critical thinking and innovation. It emphasizes the integration of technology in classroom teaching, with extensive use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools and the inclusion of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as an integral part of the curriculum.

To meet the evolving needs of higher education, the institute organizes refresher courses, short-term programs, and workshops on emerging and current topics. Some of the themes covered include MOOCs, e-content development (SWAYAM), Intellectual Property Rights, Environment Education and Sustainable Development, Disaster Management, Data Analysis and Machine Learning, Human Rights, Entrepreneurship, and Gender Sensitization.

The institute employs a variety of instructional methodologies in its courses, such as lectures with video presentations and PowerPoint slides, case studies, movie clippings, field visits, industry visits, seminars, group discussions, demonstrations, and laboratory sessions. Additionally, it emphasizes experiential learning through activities like poster designing and presentations, institutional social responsibilities (extension activities), website designing and uploading, simulations of rescue operations, creation of digital content (MOOCs- SWAYAM), and configuring and conducting webinars. The institute has implemented several green initiatives, including online applications, admissions, participant feedback, and tests, as well as promoting a plastic-free zone.

One of the institute's strengths lies in its documentation of all courses and the inclusion of experiential learning sessions. It invites eminent resource persons from prestigious institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, Centre for Advanced Technology, Inter University Consortium (IUC) and National Law Universities. The institute also has video conferencing facilities, enabling participants to interact with renowned resource persons from outside India.

The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre has been recognized as an institutional strength by NAAC peer team members in the Peer Team Report (PTR). It collaborates with other national-level training institutions and has established a language lab for participants of refresher courses in languages. 128 programs were conducted by the institute from 2019 to 2024, including Orientation Courses, Refresher Courses, Short-Term Courses, Faculty Induction Programs, Workshops, UGC STRIDE Programs (FDP), NEP 2020 Orientation and Sensitization Programs, University Programs, and others.

Moreover, the institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Law University (NLU) Nagpur for academic collaboration, including the exchange of students and faculty members, as well as the development of joint training and research programs. Recently, the institute organized a national conference sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, titled Role of teachers in the implementation of National Education Policy 2020," which took place on November 24-25, 2023.)
